The Omani foreign minister and HEGTA managing director also negotiated on determining regional and international strategy in order to develop tourism cooperation.
Bin Alawi and Salami also discussed the capacities of their countries in terms of expanding air flights and creating recreational and residential facilities as well as constructing four and five star hotels.
The Omani FM also referred to his discussion with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani over the aforementioned issues on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting in Istanbul a week earlier, emphasizing the necessity of carrying out joint ventures concerning tourism industry.
For his part, Salami reaffirmed remarks made by Bin Alawi, saying that the Islamic Republic is planning to replace Oman instead of the UAE, Qatar and Turkey as Iran’s most important economic partner.
Pointing to the project of developing health tourism in Iran, the HEGTA managing director also proposed that Muscat and Tehran could pursue insurance cooperation.
